Technical Coordinator - Core Lab

Description:

Overview:
Manages day to day operations in a clinical laboratory cost center, including administrative and technical support of laboratory services, problem resolution, technical development and procedure implementation, financial management, purchasing, etc. Responsible for human resource management (hiring/firing, performance evaluations, etc.), budget development (in conjunction with Manager) and budget monitoring. Supervises specimen collection requirements, accessioning, and preparation of specimens for analysis, testing and reporting. Performs analytical procedures when required. Responsible for Quality Assurance functions including data collection, analysis and reporting.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology; OR
  • Bachelor Degree in a physical, chemical or biological science; OR
  • 90 semester hours of science and completion of an AHCA approved training program.
  • Five years of experience as a Medical Technologist is required of which one year in a lead or supervisory position is preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Must possess a current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the appropriate area or be eligible for a temporary license.
  • ASCP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Temporary licensure must be permanent within one year of accepting the position; if not, the position is automatically forfeited.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'non-frequent driver' NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
