Job Description:
Responsible for performing custodial tasks and leading a team of custodial workers in the performance of duties and responsibilities
Organize, assign, and manage workflow so that routine and special cleaning tasks and emergency responses are handled in a timely and efficient manner; check daily event reports for current and upcoming events in order to plan and schedule cleaning tasks and assignments accordingly
Responsible for performing custodial and other relevant job duties and leading a team of custodial workers in performing housekeeping/custodial tasks including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies, removal and disposal of trash, cleaning ceiling tiles and vents, cleaning windows and walls, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and other interior cleaning tasks as required
Responsible for ensuring cleaning tasks at exterior areas adjacent to the building; areas maintained include walkways, windows, railings, entrance areas, and similar exterior surfaces; cleaning tasks include sweeping, pressure washing, window washing, and operating power equipment such as blowers and pressure washing equipment
Responsible for heavy cleaning tasks including stripping, sealing, and waxing of hard surface floors, including moving furniture
Ensure compliance with safety standards, and OSHA and ADA regulations at all times
Assist with overall workflow coordination and quality assurance
Meet daily with supervisor and/or lead workers from previous and following shifts to discuss special needs, tasks, and projects requiring follow up
Assist with daily inspections of the facility as directed to check for cleanliness and overall condition; assign or perform special cleaning tasks as necessary
Respond appropriately to information and requests received via work orders, building reports, and from staff and customers to determine the priority of tasks to be performed; provide follow-up to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
Responsible for assisting with coordination and completion of special cleaning tasks in facility during academic calendar or holiday breaks
Assist in establishing and ensuring compliance with high quality standards for all work performed (work performed by internal staff as well as contracted vendors)
Provide general support for assigned area and administrative support as directed
Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning materials, tools, equipment, and restroom supplies in storage closets throughout the facility; inform supervisor of low inventory items as needed
Assist with employee hiring process
Identify staff issues observed and/or reported, document issues, and provide information to supervisor for follow up as needed
Inspect housekeeping equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep; provide information to supervisor in a timely manner regarding maintenance or other necessary follow-up; assist in maintaining up-to-date equipment usage, care, and maintenance records
Clean and maintain tools and equipment as directed; clean, organize, and maintain storage areas as directed
Assist with orientation and training for members of custodial team; instruct team members in proper and safe cleaning procedures, processes, techniques and methods, proper and safe use of equipment, and safe and appropriate use of cleaning products and materials
Operate industrial laundry washing, drying and ironing equipment to clean and fold tablecloths and hotel linens as directed
Perform occasional room set-up and/or breakdown (including moving furniture) as directed
Perform other duties as assigned, including special cleaning tasks or projects
Expected Salary:
$17.50/hour
A shift differential is added to this shift.
Minimum Requirements:
Completion of ninth grade and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in all aspects of building cleaning including but not limited to floor care, wall surfaces, windows, and general cleaning of offices, restrooms, and food areas
Knowledge of up-to-date cleaning methods, products, and materials including chemicals
Understanding of handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Experience in the operation and use of various custodial cleaning equipment
Proficiency with computers and basic software applications
Communication skills (verbal and written)
Customer service skills
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
Handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Determine work priorities, assign work and insure proper completion of work assignments

Normal Work Schedule:
This is an evening/overnight position
7:00 pm to 3:30 am; days off will rotate to meet department needs; rotating weekends are required.
JWRU building is open 7 days per week and most holidays
Criminal background check is required.
