DB Environmental (DBE) is accepting resumes for motivated field scientists and research personnel at their Gainesville, FL office. DBE is a small business, providing environmental consulting, research and laboratory services for government and private clients from offices located in Rockledge, West Palm Beach and Gainesville, Florida. DBE specializes in conducting high quality biogeochemical research and ecological monitoring to improve and protect aquatic systems throughout the state. The companys focus is solving water resource problems with keen insights, focused analyses and strategic data gathering.

Position Summary

Primary duties for this full-time position include supporting environmental projects in North Central Florida by 1) collecting surface water, groundwater, vegetation and soil/sediment samples in aquatic environments using established protocols;and 2) managing, analyzing and interpreting data using Microsoft Excel, R, and GIS applications. Other duties may include administrative tasks that support general operations of the office. This position provides an opportunity for a motivated candidate to expand a working knowledge of environmental research through interactions with environmental professionals and a wide range of projects.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in the natural or physical sciences or a related scientific field and two years experience collecting samples in wetlands or other aquatic environments required. Associates degree and four years experience collecting samples may substitute
  • Experience in surface water and groundwater sampling following FDEP standard operating procedures strongly .
  • Strong data management and analysis skills using MS Excel (required), R (), or other comparable software.
  • Experience using ArcGIS applications .
  • Demonstration of initiative and willingness to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Capacity to independently evaluate operational situations and problem-solve, while using techniques and protocols specified in Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively under adverse field and weather conditions and lift 50 lbs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and proven organizational, time, and self-management skills.
