This is a highly responsible administrative and professional position providing management, leadership and direction to all functions of the Department. Performs complex, specialized and independent duties involving the enforcement of the Nassau County Code of Ordinances. Ability to supervise the work of subordinates in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale. Ability to enforce the local code enforcement ordinance and explain regulations to the public with tact, courtesy, firmness and impartiality. Provides administrative support to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate.
Requires a Degree in Business Administration or Public Administration, supplemented by five (5) years of experience in code compliance, two (2) years of which was in a supervisory capacity or a combination of education, training and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid State Driver's License. Must obtain and maintain a State of Florida Fundamentals of Code Enforcement Certification, a State of Florida Administrative Aspects of Code Enforcement Certification, a State of Florida Legal Issues in Code Enforcement Certification, and a State of Florida Officer Safety & Field Operations Certification within eighteen (18) months of employment.
