EHS Specialist

Description:

As the EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety program for PPG's Gainesville powder manufacturing facility. You will provide leadership, direction, and training to ensure a safe and healthful workplace for our associates while ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations to minimize current and future risks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local, and PPG requirements and policies.
  2. Drive injury prevention and spill elimination programs.
  3. Provide leadership and direction for EHS training.
  4. Oversee and complete the industrial hygiene program.
  5. Manage workers' compensation documentation for work-related injuries and assist with case management.
  6. Provide technical guidance for the facility-wide MOC program.
  7. Evaluate the EHS impacts of capital projects and ensure EHS risk assessments are completed.
  8. Maintain oversight, audit readiness, and mentorship for compliance audits and corrective actions.
  9. Lead emergency response activities.
  10. Liaise with the environmental Center of Excellence for environmental aspects.
  11. Develop programs to reduce EHS risks and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  12. Complete and submit environmental reports such as OSHA logs and manage site permits.
  13. Oversee the Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal).
  14. Help develop leading indicators to drive continuous improvement in sustainability metrics, spill incidents, injuries, and the EHS Management System.

Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  2. At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Understanding of safety and environmental regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Workers' Compensation), inspection procedures, audits, hazard reviews, incident prevention, and investigation techniques.
  4. Ability to advise management and employees on various issues.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills, data collection, and analytical abilities.
  6. Knowledge of organizational change and building a safety culture through influence and engagement.
