YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE

We are looking for a Sensory Scientist at 2183 SE Hawthorne Rd, Gainesville, FL 32641, USA. Your mission will be to:

Position Summary

The incumbent will manage and execute sensory and consumer research studies to meet client objectives by working within the sensory science team. Study types may include descriptive, discrimination, and quantitative consumer research studies.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2 years experience in a sensory laboratory setting

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct single or multi-stage projects, delivering to standards and timelines, including designing research, interpreting results, reporting findings, making recommendations, and contributing to decision-making. Employ a range of sensory science methods, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Interface with clients to determine their needs and how to apply sensory science to answer research questions. Clients include sensory departments, marketing, quality, product development, and executives.
  • Support panel recruitment and help improve and expand the panel database.
  • Apply statistical analysis to study data to interpret results for clients.
  • Support project setup and product preparation as needed.
  • Provide informal coaching and share experience with junior colleagues and technicians.
  • Work on improving department methodologies, practical solutions, and facilities, presenting ideas to management.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge in scientific disciplines.

Communication

The incumbent will have occasional contact with personnel outside the immediate team, including interactions with the Sensory Manager and other team members.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work in a laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control, with occasional exposure to hot or boiling liquids and heated oils.
  • Work in environments with increased temperatures near ovens and microwaves.
  • Wear laboratory coat, apron, hairnets, and gloves as required.
  • Expect extended periods on feet and standing.
  • Ability to detect slight differences in shades, colors, and perceive major attributes in foods and beverages.
