Summary/Objective
The Product Engineer supports Engineering by controlling product design information and documentation. The Product Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new and existing products, validating equipment, and purchased product/material, and data collection with respect to applications and field use. This position involves design and prototyping new products through coordination with Sales and Engineering staff for customer expectations and requirements. The Product Engineer will support Process Improvement and Corrective Actions as needed. Assists in developing and documenting procedures, work instructions, and flow charts. Provides technical support and expertise. Has an intimate relationship with existing products, product development and improvement, and product support.
Essential Functions
- Design of new products and prototyping.
- Product design and development, production development.
- Document and Design Control.
- Assists in the calibration and validation of equipment, operation of equipment to perform testing and the collection of data.
- Creating and maintaining part numbers and descriptions, part masters, and processing Engineering Change Notices
- Perform research and development of product with respect to application and field use.
- Aid in Quality improvement and development.
- Interface with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to ensure products and specifications are in accordance with approved processes, procedures and collected data.
- Assist in resolutions of failures, corrective actions, and preventative actions.
- Ability to work in a team environment to perform, diagnose, complete and document results, develop fixtures, test product, and develop processes and procedures.
- Assist Quality Assurance in product inspection, development of procedures and processes, conducting tests and collecting data.
- Assists in the continuous improvement efforts, including production processes and layout.
- Analyzes and collects data, prepares procedures and processes, trains personnel and documents training.
- Assists in the verification and implementation of equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Educations and Experience - BA/BS in an Engineering discipline, Mechanical or Materials preferred, or related technical degree or experience
- 2 or more years in a technical or quality capacity preferably in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Experienced in the creation of procedures and processes.
- Experienced in the development of manufacturing fixtures.
- Experience in manufacturing and design.
Skills and Competencies - Highly organized.
- Excellent communication skills in the English language both written and oral.
- Technical or mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy.
- Self-motivated; ability to work independently.
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications including Word, Excel, flow charting and design software.
- Must have advanced math skills.
- Advanced knowledge of technical drawings and design.
- Technical Writing ability.
Work Environment Work is generally performed in an office environment with controlled heating and air, with standard office equipment available. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection.
