Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position will be available to work as Health Support Technician or Senior Clerk in all WIC clinic locations in our 10-county region. The incumbent will be required to work at various sites with a scheduled or advance notification of changes. This is a highly skilled position which requires an expert understanding of the Federal WIC Program and the use of the WIC FL-WiSE data system with minimal supervision. Having successfully completed the Florida Paraprofessional Training modules, will assist in providing quality nutrition services to WIC participants in compliance with the Federal Regulations and state policies. The incumbent is expected to promote cooperation, courtesy, and teamwork, in a diverse environment and as an employee of the Alachua County Health Department, represents the agency and its mission and values while acknowledging that all information held in health records is confidential, with access governed by the state and federal laws Confidential information includes the clients name, address, medical social and financial data and services received.
Maintains current knowledge of the Federal WIC program regulations including WIC memos, WIC FL-WiSE clinic manual and the FL WIC Manual DHM 150-24. Collecting and documenting client demographics including email addresses. Accurately assesses and records income, demographic and other information necessary to determine WIC program eligibility and advises WIC participants of their rights and obligations according to federal guidelines. Ensures that the Florida voter registration documentation and forms are completed accurately. Issue WIC EBT card benefits. Conducts secondary low risk nutrition education contacts to WIC Clients. Assist in decreasing non-participation by contacting clients for appointments who appear on related reports such as the No Show and Clients eligible for benefits reports. Appropriately documenting all attempts and successful contacts with clients. Completes required end of the month reports. Completes formula inventory daily. Leadership role for assigned WIC clinic to ensure all monthly reports are completed and submitted on time
Obtains accurate data on height and weight measurement on women, infants, and children. Performs hematocrit/hemoglobin testing and records results electronically. Cleans equipment and area where blood work is done daily. Maintains "universal precautions."
Follows established guidelines and standards for safety in handling equipment, biological specimens, and waste products to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens. Assesses immunization status. Completes lab/anthro and immunization sections in FL-WiSE.
This position requires travelling up to two hours as a team in a state or rented vehicle. Valid driver's license required to drive vehicles to assigned clinic daily.
-Follow all procedures listed in Vehicle Operation Policy (DOHP 250-12-18)
-Accurately and completely fill out DH1345 for each trip
-Responsible for fueling vehicles, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, etc
-Report any maintenance issues for vehicles immediately to administration staff
Promotes and support breastfeeding initiatives.
Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purpose of protecting confidentiality, data integrity and appropriate access for all information both confidential and public record, which is stored in hard copy or electronic formats. Completes EARS and timesheets on a weekly basis and completes certification. Completes mandatory trainings as designated by State, Federal, WIC, and local authority by deadline assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum - One year experience working with the public providing customer service.
One year experience working in a professional front office setting.
Preferred - Experience maintaining and tracking inventory. Experience with data entry in Electronic Medical Records system.
A valid driver's license.
